Ousedale School, Olney Campus

The new 600-place annexe to Ousedale School is designed to provide an attractive learning environment for secondary students. The accommodation is arranged as two main blocks on either side of a sheltered west-facing courtyard. The blocks are linked at one end by a welcoming transparent entrance hall, offering a clear view into the courtyard.

Amenities shared with the community sports and assembly halls as well as music and drama spaces are located in the south wing. This has a dramatic profiled roof, extending to cover the glazed entrance.

The courtyard provides access to hard and soft play areas, which follow the rise of the hill to the west of the site. There are two further hard ball courts adjacent to the sports hall.

The buildings, with their muted external colours, sit gracefully in the surrounding landscape. Inside, brighter shades are used to create a lively, welcoming environment.
