If you’re looking for a career with a difference, with a firm that values the team as much as the project and working with some of the biggest names in the industry, AKT II just might be the right fit for you.
Since 1995 we’ve striven to build a workplace that is fun, rewarding and exciting to be a part of. Our growing body of staff benefits from a hugely varied portfolio of projects, as well as a rich social calendar.
We believe in providing a high-quality model which draws on a wealth of experience and is enriched by an inherent curiosity. Working in a creative environment where the skills and opinions of all members of the team, from Junior to Director level, are afforded importance provides inspiration and generates a real energy in the office environment.
International and varied project portfolio
We’re selective about our projects, and we can afford to be. With a client base that includes some of the best developers in the UK, such as British Land, The Cadogan Estate, Derwent London, Hammerson and Land Securities, we have also worked with some of the UK's most auspicious institutions, such as the MRC, Wellcome Trust, and Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Our strong reputation is reflected in our recent success at the NCE/ACE Consultants of the Year Awards, as winners in 2013 and 2015.
The practice has won over 250 design awards including the RIBA Stirling Award for the Peckham Library, London in 2000 and for the Sainsbury Laboratory, Cambridge in 2012 as well as the RIBA Lubetkin Prize for the UK Pavilion at Shanghai Expo in 2010. Our collaborative history is peppered with the names of some of the most famous architects in the industry, such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster + Partners, AHMM and Heatherwick Studio.
Having worked in over 44 different countries, we can boast a truly global portfolio, demonstrating our inherent understanding of different cultures and strong communication skills. Whether it's Local Authority education projects, artistic exhibitions like 2014's Sensing Spaces at the Royal Academy, or huge-scale cultural schemes such as the Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan, our skills and experience encompass many scales and sectors.
Diversity is encouraged, and at the last count we had people of over 20 different nationalities, and the ability to communicate in over 30 languages. This diversity not only culturally enriches our workplace but also provides an openness to embrace a variety of approaches.
Corporate Social Responsibility
We take our Corporate Social Responsibility seriously, providing a mentoring programme to aid junior staff, CPD and software training for all employees, and even supplying fresh fruit on a weekly basis to promote a healthy lifestyle.
A workforce will thrive if staff are given the opportunity to mix outside the office, so we place emphasis on regular social activities, providing a budget for teams to organise their own events, as well as Office Discussions every quarter, and the ever-popular Summer and Christmas parties. Many activities are subsidised, and staff are encouraged to form sports teams and partake in friendly leagues with other firms in the industry. Softball, football, charity cycles, kickboxing and swimming are all regulars on the calendar, and our table tennis table is a lunchtime institution.
