Kadans Science Partner’s new laboratory and office development at Merlin Place in Cambridge has reached a significant milestone, with construction now advancing to the first floor.
The six-storey, 139,000-square-foot facility is designed to address the shortage of purpose-built laboratory space in the Cambridge Cluster. It will feature state-of-the-art CL2 wet labs, dry labs, and office spaces, offering flexibility for single or multiple tenants. The building will also include communal areas such as a public café and social spaces, fostering collaboration among health, life science, and technology companies.
Strategically located adjacent to Cambridge Science Park and St. John’s Innovation Park, and within walking distance of Cambridge North Station, Merlin Place is poised to become a central hub for innovation in the region. The project is expected to be completed in 2026, providing much-needed facilities to support the growth of the local scientific community.
“The Cambridge studio is collaborating with HOK and HoareLea, to achieve our client Kadans ambitions in the Science Park.
Our goal is always to deliver stunning buildings with high sustainability standards.“
Edward Joslin, Country Lead Development UK & Ireland at Kadans Science Partner, stated, “We are proud of the rapid development we have made at Merlin Place, progressing quickly to the build stage. The new state-of-the-art innovation building aims to address the current lack of available laboratory space in the Cambridge cluster, providing fully fitted lab and office space bespoke to individual company requirements.”
As construction progresses, Merlin Place is set to become a landmark development within the Cambridge North Cluster, contributing significantly to the city’s life sciences sector.
