Kingston University Town House has been awarded the 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.
We worked in close collaboration with Grafton Architects to deliver a functional and academic development in south-west London which transforms both the public streetscape and the institution’s civic identity, through a unique marriage of architecture and structure.
The project has been awarded the 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture for its remarkable environmental quality and multi-level façade colonnade that creates a domestic atmosphere on various levels. This is also the first time that a university building has won the Architecture Prize, and it shows the potential that similar public educational projects can achieve.
All components of Town House have been designed for sustainability, with a focus on enabling future repair, disassembly and reuse. The design additionally achieves BREEAM Excellent.
The EU Mies Awards Day that includes the awards ceremony, will take place on 12 May at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
