We have strengthened our geotechnical services with the appointment of Dr Dimitrios Selemetas. Dimitrios will be responsible for further expanding and delivering AKT II’s geotechnical design service.
Dimitrios has more than 17 years’ experience in delivering the design and construction of geotechnical structures, particularly complex deep basements. Dimitrios joins AKT II from Skanska where he was Chief Geotechnical Engineer delivering the London City Airport Extension piling package, the AstraZeneca basement in Cambridge, and was responsible for developing new methods and tools to drive efficiencies in design.
His areas of expertise include deep basements, piled foundations, diaphragm walls, foundations in difficult soils, tunnelling and field monitoring. In 2005 Dimitrios completed his PhD research on monitoring the response of full-scale piles and piled structures to tunnelling at the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL).
Commenting on joining AKT II, Dimitrios said: “I am very excited to be taking on the role of Technical Director at AKT II leading their geotechnical team. This is a fantastic opportunity to integrate the geotechnical design with the structural design of foundations, which is mostly governed by constructability requirements and deliver smart solutions based on buildability and optimum efficiency between superstructure and substructure.“
