Scheme to inspire the next generation commended by RIBA

Next Generation Design Pavilion

We are thrilled to announce that Scale Rule’s Next Generation Design Pavilion has been commended in RIBA Journal’s MacEwen Award!

The Next Generation Design Pavilion for Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 was the result of workshops with secondary school pupils who were tasked with designing a pavilion for use by the community. A winner was then chosen and built at St James' Church in Clerkenwell as part of the festival, and it is great to see its success acknowledged by the wider industry.

The third year of this initiative is about to get underway, with workshops beginning this weekend. The resulting pavilion will be showcased as part of Clerkenwell Design Week later in the year.

Scale Rule – a group of young architects and engineers supported by AKT II, Grimshaw Architects, the Institution of Structural Engineers, Media 10 and The Access Project – is playing a very important role by being faces in the local community who encourage young people into the world of building design, and AKT II is very proud to support their hard work.
