This commission covered the fitting out of a new fashion store for Ally Capellino on Sloane Street, in central London. Our involvement covered the new feature staircase, a glass floor between the ground and basement levels plus the bespoke shelving and racking for the merchandise.
The staircase structure consisted of the introduction of a feature fair-faced concrete wall which supports a lightweight steel stair flight and landing, cantilevered from each face. The glass floor is supported by a grillage of structural steel ‘T’s and spans between the new feature wall and base building floor structure. Careful attention to detail was required to all elements of the exposed structure, which was complicated due to the necessity of achieving a one-hour fire rating on the new glass floor.
