This project saw us working closely with both the artist Bruce McLean and the specialist steel subcontractor in order to create a free-standing sculpture with no easily visible sign of support.
Free-standing steel sculpture with no visible supports in London’s West End
The sculpture was designed for self-weight, wind and (vandal) imposed loads. It was commissioned by the Crown Estates as a piece of public art. We provided advice on plate thicknesses, stiffening requirements and secret fixing details designed to ensure that they did not detract from the clean lines of the artwork.
