In early 2012, we were appointed by Imperial West Ltd to deliver civil and structural engineering consultancy for Blocks D and F, alongside architects PLP, within the Auckett Swanke masterplan for the Imperial West campus.
The campus will be developed for Imperial College with development partner Voreda to provide a range of academic and commercial uses including research and technology transfer buildings, flexible teaching and conference facilities, postgraduate and private residential accommodation, hotel and commercial office.
Block D, which comprises laboratory and office facilities, is arranged as two blocks separated by an atrium, with the south block rising 12 storeys and the north block being limited to 7 storeys.
Block F is a landmark tower that rises 35 storeys in height, providing private and key worker residential accommodation including apartments for lecturers and researchers.
We worked alongside PLP to assist the design development and help secure planning, designing and coordinating the structural strategy for the project, later implemented by others in the final construction.
